This publication summarises a recent webinar presentation for NZ neurologists and physicians on treatment strategies to reduce OFF time and increase ON time in patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease (PD). Dr Viswas Dayal from Auckland chaired the session, which provided internationally recognised insight on how to maximise ON time with levodopa-based treatment in patients with PD. Professor Valtteri Kaasinen from Finland outlined the optimal pharmacotherapeutic approaches for reducing motor fluctuations in patients with PD and provided a comprehensive overview of prescribing considerations for newly funded levodopa/ carbidopa/entacapone (Stalevo®).
