Product Review – Ticagrelor and aspirin, for prevention of atherothrombotic events

As part of our series focussing on available medicines in Australia, we have added a product review of use of ticagrelor, in combination with aspirin, for the prevention of atherothrombotic events in acute coronary syndromes.

This review discusses pathology of ACS, pharmacology for the prevention of atherothrombotic events, Australian guidelines pharmacodynamics, indications and dosage, contraindications and a series of clinical studies featuring ticagrelor use. It also provides commentary from Professor David Brieger, an interventional cardiologist and Head of Cardiology at Concord Hospital in Sydney.
