Dr Malcolm Futter

Dr Malcom Futter graduated with degrees in pharmacology and medicine from University College London in 1976. Trained in England, New Zealand and Canada developing a research interest in neuromuscular blocking agents. Having gained English and Australasian College Fellowships he commenced as a specialist anaesthetist at Auckland hospital in 1983.

Over the next 25 years Malcolm held a variety of professional and administrative roles within Auckland District Health Board and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists as well as acting as an advisor to the ACC, HDC and a variety of other groups and organisations. A major part of his clinical work was at Starship Children’s Hospital.

Malcolm is currently a Specialist Anaesthetist working (towards retirement) in Auckland. Until recently he was Executive Clinical Director at Capital and Coast District Health Board with responsibility for Anaesthesia, ICU, Pain Management and Children’s Health.
